Rip (Remove it Permanently) is a firefox addon that provides the ability to point at and remove permanently any item you can select on a webpage. It provide a flexible and easily configurable solution to removing unwanted content from a web page.Elements can be pretty much anything from headers, images, advertisement, forms to flash content.

Two new right-click entries appear after installing the add-on for Firefox,. The first entry, Remove This Permanently, removes the selected element from the current page. If you remove the Google logo from a search it will still appear on a different search. This method is pretty good for quickly removing elements on a website that you visit regularly and that does not have changing addresses.

The second entry Rip Advanced offers advanced features that make it possible to remove elements from a single page, all similar pages, the website and the full domain. That’s not all however. You can also remove all similar items in one go, remove the parent element, all parent elements, all frames and Google Adsense.

A flagged video will be reviewed by an administrator who has numerous options at hand including setting the flag for age verification which requires users to login before they can view the video. Age verification is pretty basic and anyone who cheated on his birthday can watch the video after logging in.

The message that gets displayed when a user who is not logged in loads a video with age verification is the following: “This video or group may contain content that is inappropriate for some users, as flagged by YouTube’s user community. To view this video or group, please verify you are 18 or older by signing in or signing up.”

The Firefox extension You Old Enough provides users with another way. The experimental add-on will check if the video on Youtube is flagged for age verification and open it immediately in a popup window.

In order to enable this feature,you have to navigate the hidden firefox settings..!!
In address bar type:
about:config

You will see a textbox and a long list of options and settings. In the "filter" textbox type:

mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlines

Change the default value to "false". Then type:

mousewheel.withnokey.numlines

The default value is "1". Increase this number to have faster scroll speed in firefox. I prefer "6".

You don't even need to restart firefox to see the changes. They take effect on immediatly.

One of the most impressive features in Google's open source Chrome web browser is V8, a high-performance JavaScript virtual machine that was developed by a team of specialists in Denmark. Although Chrome's performance beats the current stable version of Firefox, benchmarks show that Mozilla's next-generation JavaScript engine actually outperforms V8.

Mozilla is using tracing optimization techniques and Adobe's open source nanojit to increase the execution speed of SpiderMonkey, the JavaScript runtime engine in the Firefox web browser. The new engine, which is called TraceMonkey, delivers unprecedented JavaScript performance. The new optimizations have already landed in the latest Firefox nightly builds (but still have to be manually enabled) .

JavaScript creator and Mozilla CTO Brendan Eich ran the SunSpider JavaScript benchmarks against Chrome and the latest TraceMonkey-enabled Firefox build, which includes some recent improvements. The benchmarks show that TraceMonkey is clearly faster than Google's V8. Mozilla believes that the optimization technique used in TraceMonkey has the potential to unlock even more performance improvements.

"As we continue to trace unrecorded bytecode and operand combinations, we will only get faster," Eich wrote in a blog entry. "What spectators have to realize is that this contest is not a playoff where each contending VM is eliminated at any given hype-event point. We believe that Franz & Gal-style tracing has more 'headroom' than less aggressively speculative approaches, due to its ability to specialize code, making variables constant and eliminating dead code and conditions at runtime, based on the latent types inherent in almost all JavaScript programs."

Eich also praises Chrome. He says that the V8 JavaScript engine is "very-well engineered" and he describes the multiprocess design as "righteous".

The results of the benchmark show that Mozilla is still a powerful force to be reckoned with in the browser space and that they will continue to innovate and remain relevant as new companies enter the market.

Google introduced Chrome in part because it wants faster browsing and the richer Web applications that speed will unlock. So how does Chrome actually stack up?

Lars Bak, the Google engineer who was the technical leader for Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine, said at the launch event Tuesday he's confident Chrome is "many times faster" than the rivals at running JavaScript, the programming language that powers Google Docs, Gmail, and many other Web applications.

Google offers a site with five JavaScript benchmarks. On each one of these tests, Chrome clearly trounced the competition. I hope benchmarking experts and developers will weigh in with comments about how well these tests represent true JavaScript performance on the Web--either for ordinary sites or for rich Web apps.

- Open system properties(by right clicking my computer), choose tab advanced, click to environment variables button. in system variables section, click new. type this information to each textbox.

variable name: moz_no_remote(should be all small letter)
variable value: 1

press ok to close all windows.

- Open firefox icon’s properties(from desktop and quick launch). add extension -p to command line(like “c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe” -p). press ok.

while starting firefox u have to create two separate profiles of firefox so that u can login to two accounts of any site (orkut,yahoo.. etc)..

If you like using Firefox 3, but you miss using your extensions which are not compatible with Firefox 3, there is something you can try. Go to the address bar and type: about:config once it shows the list of configuration preferences, right click on the list and select New -> Boolean from the menu. This will pop up a window that asks for the name of the new preference; enter extensions.checkCompatibility and set the value to false.

Once you restart your browser, it will no longer check for plug-in compatibility when Firefox 3 starts. I've found that even though most of my plug-ins are not "technically compatible", they still work in Firefox 3 without any apparent issues once you can get by the compatibility check.

Follow the steps..

- Open your Firefox Profile folder by navigating to:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Mozilla\ Firefox\Profiles\

- Look for signons2 and open it in any text editor.

- Copy all the data from the file and close it.

- Now look for signons3, open it in a text editor and replace its data with the copied one.

- Save the file and close it.

- Restart Firefox and all your passwords will be updated now.
